We received about 2″ of snow in the snow play areas yesterday.
As of this morning tire chains or four wheel drive is required to get to any of the snow play areas.
The weather service is calling for another storm cycle starting on Saturday afternoon going through Monday.…

4. Arrive Early in Wrightwood by 8:30-9am on weekends and holidays
a. If you arrive early and then leave by about 2pm you will miss t of the traffic.
b. Or better idea is to come on a weekday or non-holiday period
5. Make sure your car is ready for the drive
a. Tire Chains and emergency equipment shovels and warm clothing
b. Know the route you plant to take and check the road conditions
i. DO NOT rely on gps as this sends many people in the wrong direction or on unmaintained roads
6. Take care of our Mountains:
a. Only snow play on public land NOT ON PRIVITE PROPERTY.
b. Please bring trash bags and pick up the trash and take it home with you or you can drop off bagged thrash at Mountain Hardware

Update, lots of traffic you already know this if you are in line. It is 45 minutes to 1 hour from Mountain Hardware to Mt High East. Once you pass Mt High East the traffic starts moving very well about 25-35 mph.
The good new if you are still waiting there is still snow to play in west of Big Pines.
If you are reading this post and thinking about coming up tomorrow then I would suggest that you plan on arriving here at Mountain Hardware 1390 hwy2 Wrightwood Ca. 92397 by about 8-8:30 am no latter in the morning.
We will be open in the morning at 7am tomorrow so you can get up to the snowplay areas before the traffic causes a grid lock.

I know I do not usually post at night.
But I wanted everyone planning to come up to play in the snow to know today was a madhouse with the traffic in a grid lock most of the day. I would suggest if you can arrange it to come up next week after the holiday and you will have the area to your self.
But if you have come tomorrow plan on arriving early I would suggest to arrive in town by 8am to be ahead of most of the traffic. Then if you leave by 2pm you will be ahead of the afternoon traffic headed home.
Mountain Hardware will be opening 1 hour early at 7:30 am tomorrow Sunday so you will be able to get up to the snowplow areas before the traffic gets too bad.

Well it is a very wet here this morning.
We did received about 2” of snow yesterday in the snow play areas. But it then turned to rain and has been raining and windy since. It is still raining this morning.
So this would NOT be a good day to come to the mountains. Much nicer day to set by the fire and read a good book, work on a puzzle or dream about being in the mountains.
The storm should move out of the area late this afternoon with tomorrow, Friday being clear.

Good Morning
We have received about 1″ of snow last night. We have received about 4-6″ in the last 24 hours in the snow play areas.
Currently it is we have mixed rain and snow with the temperature about 35 deg F and light winds.

Roads a currently open with no controls. You did not need tires chain as of this morning. But conditions can always change so please come prepared for winter travel conditions at all times in the mountains.
