About Wrightwood

Wrightwood, California, is nestled in the San Gabriel Mountains at 6,000 feet. With a population of about 3,300, this small mountain town is just 15 miles off I-15, making it one of the most accessible alpine retreats in Southern California.

Originally home to the Serrano people, Wrightwood later became a cattle ranch, then an apple-growing community before evolving into the quiet mountain getaway it is today. Its history is still visible in the buildings that remain part of daily life.

Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do year-round—hiking, skiing, fishing, camping, or just enjoying a peaceful picnic under the pines. Notable landmarks include Mt. Baden-Powell and the Pacific Crest Trail, offering breathtaking views and rugged adventures. The surrounding Angeles National Forest hides plenty of scenic surprises for those willing to explore.

Winter transforms Wrightwood into a playground for snow lovers. Mountain High Resort offers nearly 20 miles of runs for skiers and snowboarders. At the same time, the North Resort (formerly Ski Sunrise, a ski area, now a tubing and snow play park) provides a more family-friendly experience. Sledding and snow play areas are scattered throughout the forest, giving visitors plenty of ways to enjoy the snow.

Wrightwood also hosts community events like its popular car show, drawing classic car enthusiasts from all over.

Whether you’re visiting for a weekend or looking for a new place to call home, Wrightwood offers a taste of true mountain hospitality in every season.
